As mentioned by Hunter on the SCPT podcast once (paraphrasing here…): there are six people sitting on the table who either know the rules or can do a Reddit search. So there are no official judges, and you are expected to resolve any rules discussions on your own table. If you really need help, the organizers will be around to help out.

All drafting will happen in designated channels on the TI Lage Landen Discord server using https://ti4-lab.fly.dev. We will make random groups, distributing the game owners so that they will play with their own game if possible.

For Saturday, the draft will start about a month in advance. This is so everybody has enough time to reply. The slices will be randomly generated, and they will be used in every group. The factions will vary per group.

For Sunday, the draft will start as soon as it is known who you’ll be playing against. You will be added to the applicable group (see FAQ about “what to do on Sunday”) and drafting will start at that point. The slices will be the same as Saturday.

To keep time short, deals will be done over the table. So no discussing stuff somewhere else or using other mediums. Do it on the table, so everybody knows what is happening.

First of all: you’re a hero!

On the days of play, the organization will make an announcement that people should respect the games they are playing with.

We will try to have players matched to the boardgame that they provided. This will be easier on Saturday than on Sunday.

Setup on Saturday is expected to happen around 9-ish in the morning.

If there is a reason you need to leave early on Sunday, but your game is still being played with, leave instructions with the organization on how you want the game to be cleaned up and your address. The organization will make sure the game gets back to you.

We have some international players (coming from abroad, or living in the Netherlands). If the complete table is Dutch, there is no problem talking Dutch, but if there is even only one person not talking Dutch, of course you should talk English.

The event will take place in the Denksportcentrum Leiden, which can be found on Robijnstraat 4, 2332KE, Leiden.

On Sunday, the finals will be played by the players that won on Saturday. But what will we do with the people that don’t win on Saturday?

Each game on Saturday will have one winner (duh), but 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th place will also be determined. This will be in order of points. If there is a tie for the points between players, the initiative will determine the “winner” of that tie. For example: if two players are tied with 9 Victory Points, the player with the higher initiative (c.q. lower strategy card) will be 2nd in that group (and the other player 3rd).

We assume that some people might not want to spend the full two days on the tournament. So be aware that you might be playing a game with a lower player count on the second day. So if you know people that might want to backup on Sunday if there’s a spot free, don’t hesitate to invite them.

Drinks are to be bought at the bar. Food can be brought/ordered in: there is a supermarket across the parking lot. Keep in mind that you most likely will be playing with the physical game from somebody else - try to keep stickiness to a minimum!

There is no clean way to get to 6 players from more than 36 players. So we will be performing some mathematical wizardry comparable (possibly even identical) to what was done at the UK Championship this year: the speaker order, factions, and slices will each have a point value attached to them. The Saturday winners will be ranked based on the total points of their draft. The 6 winners with the best scores based on those values will be seated at the finals table. These point values and the way they work will be explained in more detail closer to the event.

Playing TI in a competitive setting is a bit silly, so we recommend not worrying about it too much.

No. The venue closes at midnight, so we need to make sure every game is packed and every player has left by that time. If you are still playing at 23.00 o’clock, an organizer will stop by and discuss the best way to end the game.
